CELEBRATION ALERT

Cheers to another year of laughter, joy, and the incredible journey we share together.
— Anonymous

Congratulations to the residents and staff of Safe Harbor, our memory care community, as they celebrated their 5 year anniversary yesterday. "The love is real for our residents! The staff treats them all like family.", Erica Ferrara, our Safe Harbor Director, who has been part of The Regency team for almost 24 years, shared. "We enjoy our HAPPY IN THE MOMENT opportunities that happen daily!".

The residents and staff wore PURPLE, the color to symbolize Alzheimer’s awareness. They were all adorned with white corsages, too. At the party, each resident was highlighted of their life stories and their new interests they have learned while living at Safe Harbor. One by one, staff was also called up to by pinned and given a gift to say thank you for their love and dedication to our residents. Chef Pat served hot hors d’oeuvres and even danced on the dance floor- we have video to prove it?.

Check out our HAPPY IN THE MOMENT afternoon filled with dancing, laughs and LOVE! Thank you to the amazing staff for everything! We couldn’t do it without you!

RING MY BELL ALERT

Friendship means being there for someone, no matter what life throws at them.
— Anonymous

The Regency loves celebrating each other’s accomplishments and milestones. We are also here for our residents and staff when they need encouragement or a shoulder to lean on. Yesterday, we surprised our very own Resident Gerald Thorton with a LOBBY PARTY for his amazing accomplishment.

Gerry, at 96 years old, completed 30 rounds of radiation- never sad, never asked why me, just did what he had to do! Residents and staff lined the lobby, holding a balloon as CELEBRATION played over the PA system. Gerry walked in after his last treatment with the biggest smile as we shouted, “SURPRISE, you did it!”.

Gerry rang the bell in the lobby and walked to each resident and staff member to receive his balloon and congratulatory wishes as well! Big thanks to his friend, Rockeysha, who has been there every step of the way! Gerry is a CHAMP; we admire his tenacious spirit and love of life! Way to go, Gerry!

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL ALERT

Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.
— Franz Kafka

Resident, Cleo Pappas, is a beautiful person inside and out. At almost 94 years old, her beauty still shines bright. We had a special karaoke hour in honor of Cleo's late husband and resident, Charlie.

Charlie sang at the Glen Cove Senior Center for years- even taking his show on the road and performing at various venues well into his 80’s. There was a full circle moment when the Pappas’ moved in to The Regency and saw fellow singing partner, Resident Mickey Jimenez here. Both Charlie and Mickey were featured in Newsday for their singing abilities and zest of life no matter how old you are. Residents and staff sang the afternoon away. Keep singing and shining, Cleo! Charlie would be proud of you… we know we are!

DO YOU BELIEVE ALERT

Christmas magic is silent. You don't hear it— you feel it. You know it. You believe it.
— Anonymous

Santa made an early visit to The Regency visiting with our residents. One by one Santa sat with our residents ranging from 51 to 103 years old. Smiles from ear to ear and even some tears, Santa and his elves made everyone so happy.

Thank you to our Queen Elf, Annmarie who shopped for every resident, purchasing gifts that she thought residents would need. Annmarie with her elves proceeded to wrap every gift and hand them to the big guy himself! We had a guest elf stop in, Erica the Elf. Her mischief behavior- like sitting on the piano and dancing on the table- had everyone laughing! It was a great day at The Regency- full of love, laughter and moments of believing in magic! Sometimes that’s all you need!
